~ Hard To Let Go ~

How hard to let go, when so long we did hold
Feels like it's ripping away part of my soul
As a couple we have lived, as one all these years
As one we have laughed and shared in our tears.

It's scary, as part of me needs to let go
But without you I would be lost, this I yet know
As one, our spirits have danced in the wind
It seems our dance started, when time did begin.

I will miss the nights of all our shared passion
The smiles and laughter of which it was fashioned
The comfort needed when things seemed to go wrong
The cheerful words, as you sang a little song.

I pray every night that we never will part
That you can yet find the strength in your heart
To return ever strong, able to keep me in line
Once more to share love, like the sweetest fine wine.

If the Lord has other plans, we cannot know
And the time does come when I will need to let go
With me forever, a love will live deep inside
Where our souls together, did one time reside.
