~ ACCEPTING OLD AGE ~

I went and put my poodle skirt on
Got my bobby socks out too
Gonna put those dusty 45's on
Relive memories I outgrew.

However, my skirt I couldn't zip
Everything fit quite tight
My bobby socks are dirty and ripped
And I look like such a sight!

My hips have gotten really wide
My boobs sit on my waist
My underwear tends to ride a bit
And I look at myself with distaste.

Yes, I'm no longer in my teens
I'm the older generation now
Years have gone so fast it seems
I look in the mirror and say "WOW!"

So, no dress-up for me anymore
No living in the past
Memories I don't need to explore
I'll accept old age at last.

I started to laugh and giggle
As my favorite song began to play
I tried to dance but only wiggled
So in this chair I will stay.

I'll close my eyes and listen
To the songs from yesteryear
My eyes will well up and glisten
As a smile begins to appear.
