An Apple A Day

A simple wholesome apple, we see every day
Always there, of humble worth,
Yet so softly will it ever say
Warmest delight
All ruby red and shining bright.

Crispy crunchy, sweet to bite
Calling of home and Mother's love,
Her hot apple pie...
To win any prize,
Topped with cream, a little boy's dream.

 
And then so versatile
To carry fresh for lunch
Preserved or dried for a longer chew
Baked whole with cinnamon and cloves
Apple sauce with juicy pork
Strudel, turn over, jelly apple snow.

Calling of the glory of a frosty morn
Red, a color vibrant
A new day is born.

Thank you Johnny Appleseed, this little gift
from your heart
Just apples for our country, yet exploding
