~ A Soldiers Christmas Card ~
A Christmas card I can see,
Nestled in my mind:
Glistening snow and sleigh
rides..
A Christmas tree to find...
The sweet scent of Gingerbread
Men
Fills the chilly air...
With flour and candy sprinkles
Scattered every where...
Please give my love to Mom and
Dad,
Say, I wish I could come home...
But here I am, stuck in this
war,
Singing carols all alone...
I can feel you in my arms
As we snuggle in the cold...
Before the fireplace, blazing
warm,
Your heart and hand I hold...
Johnnie will be playing
With his new electric train...
Suzie, with her music loudly
playing
Will drive us all insane...
No, I won't be home this
Christmas.
I am fighting in Iraq...
But EVERY day will be Christmas
If I make it back...
'Til then, save the mistletoe,
And save me a great big kiss...
'Cause I won't be home this
Christmas...
And it's your love that I will
miss...
But know that I am with you all
If only in my dreams...
And if prayers come true, I'll
be there next year,
As my heart takes wings....
