~ Measure Of Life ~

As I start to grey, I have come to learn
Love and true respect need to be earned
This is how you can measure your life
Among friends, as well as with your precious wife.

Friends you gather will be honest, trustworthy and true
And will never cause harm in anything they do,
A reflection of the person you have become
When that faith is earned, it's the same for everyone.

The woman at your side, strong but very gentle
Will love you, even if some rust is in your mettle
And will help in all that you may do
From seeing in your heart the love so pure and true.

This will always be what life is made of from the start
When decisions are made from the heart
If to yourself and the Lord you stay true
May you find yourself blessed in all you do.

So, I thank the Lord for the blessings I see
In the friends who like to be around me
As well as the one who's love that I feel
With skin so very soft and backbone made of steel.
