~ Old Fashioned Christmas ~

Hot chocolate and spiced cookies
Candy canes hung upon the tree
Snow falling softly to the ground
A warm fire place for you and me.

Christmas music playing softly
The children tucked into their bed
A rocking horse for the baby
And for little Bill, a brand new sled.

A doll that walks and talks and cries
Wrapped sweet for little Sue
A warm scarf and fluffy mittens
In a stocking from me to you.

Oranges, nuts and candy canes
Fill each stocking, hung with care
Warm cookies and a glass of milk
Wait for Santa near the chair.

The candles burning ever brightly
As to Christmas Eve church we go
The baby, placed in the manger
Is the Christmas that I used to know.

What happened to the golden days
When gifts were plain and simple
And neighbors came to call on you
And you drank eggnog with sprinkles.
