Under those spreading leafy limbs,
We spun a web of dreams...
Our wishes, and our smallest whims...
Our plans and wistful schemes.

 That summer swept through quickly,
Surrounding us with sun...
And every day more wonderful...
Those days, so filled with fun.

 So blessed, those days of long ago...
When you professed your love for me.
Then carved it in our leafy friend,
For all the world to see.

 Although those days are gone for good.
Their memories linger on...
Reminding me where it all began,
And just how much I won!

Now we stroll there, hand in hand...
My lifelong love and me...
To see those old initials,
Carved upon the tree!
