~ The Desert ~
I've been to the desert, barren and dry.
Lying there, thirsting, tears in my eyes.
I lay in silence, hearing no voice,
Until I heard my God say, "Arise and rejoice!"

"I took you from your oasis, noisy and loud.
Where you sat in comfort boisterous and proud.
You could not hear me as I called to you,
So you had to come here. What else could I do?
Now, with just a whisper, you hear me call,
My voice echoing above silence, above ALL.
To get your attention, bring you back to me,
We came to this desert to set your heart free.

So, Now that you're thirsting, eternal waters I give.
Now that you're dying, I offer a new life to live.
Now that you're hopeless, new hope you can see.
Now that you hear me, be silent in ME!"
Now I know in this world of sin and disgrace
A dry, barren desert is not such a bad place!
For where ever I go, my Lord goes with me,
And I hear Him speak, if silent I be!

So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God!
