~ A Faded Photo ~

It was just a faded photo
that he carried in his pocket,
and hers was in a picture
that she wore inside a locket...

They walked their paths together
till the road no longer lingered,
and their love was as symbolic
as the rings upon their fingers...

More than 60 years they had
toiled with burdens heavy,
and when God called them home,
both of them were ready.

They enjoyed life to the fullest,
and lived by God's own creed,
the spirit that was in them
showed in each kind deed.

Through happiness, and sorrow
they toiled these fields below,
and I pray that God will kindly
guide their feet wherever they go...

They loved each other greatly,
and on one another relied,
until God called them upward
to his home beyond the sky...

It was just a faded picture

and hers was in a photo,
that she wore inside a locket...
