I watched you go off to the river
To catch a fish or two
Then bring them home to me
So I could fry them brown for you.
Those little boy things now put away
You're a fine young man
You've reached your teenage years
Your life has now begun

All dressed up and on your way
To see your favorite girl
I hope she knows how lucky she is
To have the handsomest guy in the world
But your life is about so many things
College, career and decisions
The by-gone days of boyish ways
Left behind for these good reasons
