~ Fine Young Man ~

I watched you as you grew to be
The teenager I now see
So much fun we had my dear
With each passing year

It was the joy of my life
To cheer at the games you played
With the other kids at the park
Bat the home run 'YOU' had made

bullet

I watched you go off to the river
To catch a fish or two
Then bring them home to me
So I could fry them brown for you.

Those little boy things now put away
You're a fine young man
You've reached your teenage years
Your life has now begun

bullet

All dressed up and on your way
To see your favorite girl
I hope she knows how lucky she is
To have the handsomest guy in the world

But your life is about so many things
College, career and decisions
The by-gone days of boyish ways
Left behind for these good reasons
