~ The Going Down of the Sun ~

Looking over the ocean at the painted sky,
The colors of pink, blue and gray
show that darkness is nigh.

The light of the sky is growing dim.
The sun is going down
over the ocean’s rim.

The warmth of the sun is growing so cold
And the air of the night
is getting bold.

Looking up above I see a faint glow of the moon;
Does this mean that the stars
will show their faces soon?

Now the sun has gone down and out of my sight,
For the settling of the night.
There is one thing I can surely say,

"Thank you, Lord, for letting me live another day."
