~ In The Sands Of Iraq ~

I can see the sands of Iraq
My husband fighting back
The sand drifts so deep
To trudge on and on
With your weary feet
So hard to run
In that burning sun,
Never knowing if you may meet
A terrorist you must defeat.

My husband, I pray for you every night
That they will let you come home and kiss your wife
At night the sand storms of Iraq
Blow grit into your mouth
It is bad for you, with no end in sight
Your eyes must hurt tonight,
When you sleep in your clothes
The sand must chafe your skin
And irritate your heart within

My husband, all you have
Is to remember I love you
I know you will not be the same again
When you are through,
Can you trust the people you see
Life is so valuable
Will Iraq ever be free
If they do not want to be
I know there are good people
In Iraq who are lost
I ask God to help them at any cost

I know you will do your best
In the name of freedom
I will ask The Son of God to bless.
