Caught up in the moment
as life goes slipping by
feeling alone, frustrated
not really knowing why

Depending on all others
for happiness inside
anger and hurt ignited
as spirit slowly dies

Too many vacant moments
and visits with despair
why can't they understand me?
seems nobody cares

A serenade with teardrops
self-doubt begins it's waltz
look inside for answers
realize you too have fault

Life has many crossroads
'n games of lets pretend
let nothing steal your sunshine
on self you must depend

It's a long journey to happiness
when caught up in the grind
just look beyond the shadows
a new light you will find

Allow yourself the freedom
to grasp and take firm hold
the beauty all around you
watch as it unfolds

The key in being happy
is first to love thyself
embrace what lies inside you
all else will find it's place
