~ Moms ~

In our lives our moms play an important part,
and all our life we carry them in our heart.
They bore such pain when we were born,
and all that pain was love and never scorn.

The role that they play, to us is so very dear,
for instance they're always there to wipe away a tear.
A tear caused by a fall or a cut from some glass,
or a spanking for a stain on a new dress caused from some grass.

A hug for us when we have really been good,
or one for 'just because' even though we never understood.
I think Mom had eyes in the back of her head,
for when I did wrong she would scold me
and just keep looking straight ahead.

Then the teen years came along and phone calls every night,
from that special boyfriend we thought was just right.
We thought he was that special one right from the start,
but all at once he up and breaks our heart.

Then here comes Mom to comfort once again,
with arms open wide for us to come in.
Those arms have given comfort all of our life,
and they have helped us thru all our strife.

But one day without realizing it the arms of comfort are gone,
leaving us to be on our own.
Where do I go, which way do I turn,
for you Dear Mom, my heart does yearn.

For you have left me here, for a better life I know,
living in a city where streets of gold does glow.
I wanted you to stay here, but Jesus wanted you too,
I'll miss your hugs and kisses, Oh, what will I do?

The time has come and Jesus has called Mom home,
life seems so unfair when we're left all alone.
I know that someday once again together we'll be,
to share God's heaven through out eternity.

She'll be standing there with arms outstretched at heaven's door,
waiting to hug, kiss and comfort me once more.
But until then, here in my heart she will stay,
until we meet on that Happy Day.
