If I had to choose,

Only one friend could I have.
Smiles and tears to share
Sorrow and joy to spare.
 
My thoughts would be heavy
Hope filled dreams gone.
So alone would I feel
Wanting my heart to seal.
 
There would be only one
That I know has been there
One friend to care
My life's secrets to share
 
I would turn to you
Calmness in your voice
Comfort against your shoulder
Our friendship growing older
 
If I had to choose,

I would turn to without fear.
