A
Prayer For The American Soldier
This Christmas
Let There Be Peace In Iraq This Year
In the silence of the desert, far away in
Iraq
I pray for the American Soldier this Christmas
Day
Let there be peace soon, Dear God, I ask of
you
They need a soft bed to sleep
A little time with those who love them, so
deep
I can hear them marching
Birds taking to the air
Gun fire going off
They must be very scared
Christmas is a long way from home
I feel their sweat, as if it is my own
May they hold hand made gifts,
from loved
one's far away
Can You, Dear God, send them back to freedom
To see a Christmas tree
I want to have my man
Will you fly him back to me
Soon there will be peace
I know it in my heart
My prayer and those of many
Can mend broken hearts
I see a land so far away
They sleep in the desert on Christmas Day
I know their dreams will be answered
Your loving hands touch them always
So I say a prayer, to bring them home
I hope next Christmas, we will be a family
again
Thank you God for listening,
Around the world, you fly
Helping soldiers live their life
For freedom, which will never ever die.
