~ Purely Daisies ~

Many hearts from here to there
say a daisy is the one
The blossom they will freely say
is their favorite to love

Which brings about a wonder
why a daisy of no scent
Of frank unpretentious white
is so appreciated then

What has a humble daisy
that stirs a soul so much
Why do pure and simple petals
bring this very gentle touch

Maybe 'tis a childlike tug
from when a bud was clasped
Or daisies picked by lover boy
with memory that lasts

Brought home from a picnic
loves me, loves me not, do tell
Or grown in Grandma's garden
to be dried upon the shelf

Clumped together or alone
are they a little friend to find
Like special folk that smile and say
are you a darling friend of mine

Might they be the daily comfort
of sweetness that is liked
Looking purely to God's heaven
for the very key to life

To the Daisy
The poet's darling.
Bright flowers, whose home is everywhere, Bold in maternal nature's care
And all the long year through the heir of joy and sorrow,
Methinks that there abides in thee some concord with humanity,
Given to no other flower I see the forest through.
We meet thee, like a pleasant thought, when such are wanted.
Thou unassuming commonplace of nature.
William Wordsworth

The daisy's for simplicity and unaffected air.
Robert Burns

Daisies infinite uplift in praise their little growing hands,
O'er every hill that under heaven expands.
Ebenezer Elliott

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily
do not rob the daisy of its simple charm.
If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose,
spring would lose its loveliness
Therese of Lisieux

There is a flower, a little flower with silver crest and golden eye,
That welcomes every changing hour, and weathers every sky.
James Montgomery

Not worlds on worlds, in phalanx deep, Need we to prove a God is here;
The daisy, fresh from nature's sleep, Tells of His hand in lines as clear.
John Mason Good
