~ Summer Storm ~
Lightning flashed across the sky
The rain came pouring down
Thunder cracked the silence
Oh how it shook the ground.
A deer stood in the meadow
When the storm came rolling in
It bounded off for cover
Till the sun came out again.
The birds that sang so sweetly
Were now huddled in their nests
They were swinging in the tree tops
As the wind blew from the West.
Just as quickly, it was over
A quiet calmness filled the air
All the clouds had rolled away
And there was sunshine everywhere.
Oh how wonderful the earth smelled
All of nature came alive
Deep within the forest
Bees continued in their hives.
Yes the summer storm had ended
All the land felt fresh and new
Now things looked as before
Until the next one came on through.
