~ An Abiding Love ~

I have a deep abiding love
For our Father who'll set my soul free
When the time is right he'll call me home
Open my eyes and allow me to see.

All the mistakes I've made in my life
Things I shouldn't have done or said
I will be able to review all these
And my sins he will allow me to shed.



We often try to do our best
When in our heart he clearly speaks
But we ignore this tugging inside
Never once do we turn the other cheek.

We all will be required to atone
For all the sins of commission
But we also have to answer to him
For all the sins of omission.

The shoulda's, woulda's, and coulda's don't get it
No excuses will he hear
Confessions of your sins is needed
He will make them all disappear.



So in this life let's get it right
Honor our Father without delay
Serve him well here on earth
Get on your knees and begin to pray.

Ask for forgiveness and his help
Seek his wisdom and his love
And when the time comes to call you home
You will reside in his kingdom above.
