~ Autumn's Breath ~
Bright Crayola colors
dance 'pon the lawn
leaves gently waltzing
in rust, yellow and brown
Birds have flown south
skies dim and grey
everything wilting
and fading away
Squirrels are busy
gathering their food
reflections of winter
coming real soon
Trees standing naked
awaiting first snow
Autumn's breath escapes
air chilly and cold
The clock ticks away
in stillness of night
Suzie snowflake arrives
dressed in pure white
Roadways and sidewalks
show mirrored displays
mountains await
where skiers can play
Fireplace glowing
warm cocoa in hand
outside, wind is whistling
an uncertain chant
Gloomy, depressing
so eerie and dark
when spring is reborn
new life will spark
