I prayed long before I knew
That you would ever be,
But God knew
Before I ever could,
You would be a friend for me
I had no idea that He might plan
Someone to know His ways,
To come so close
Beside my soul
And there forever stay
I didn't know there could be one
To listen to my heart
Without much needing to be said,
But just there to hold my hand
Along the winding path
God knew my need before I asked
One who would be just right,
Thus even before I yet could
see,
You came running with your
loving
Right into my life
