Lord, whatever draws me near
To Your eternal heart
Deny me not
Of all You may impart
For how could I hope to bring
Another to Your love
Unless I know for sure
It is more than just enough
If I never understood what it is
To be heart broken and cry
How could I come alongside another
When they too question why
If I never heard Your comfort
Softly whispered in my ear
How would I know what to pass on
That may draw another near
If my heart is not made soft and kind
By the hammering of rain
What gentleness will I learn
To feel another's pain
Without a heavy burden to bear
How then will I long
To walk within Your easy yoke
Where the rest of heart belongs
If I desire but carefree days
Won't my life be of empty floating mist
Who could I hope to comfort
Without my share of grief
What then shall fill my heart
To ever overflow
But the miracle of your peace
To share when a friend is all alone
So, don't spare me any sorrow Lord
For the strike of painful rod
Only brings me to know
The loving heart of my eternal God
Keep my wings clipped e'er enough
To hold my heart the more
Until that day of wondrous joy
You call me home to soar

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30
