~ Child In Me ~
Once
again I’d like to run
Across an open field
Wade water streams
Just day dream
Or slip down to the mill.
I’d like to fish
With old cane poles
Just like I did at three
Guess all of this I’d have to say
Is just the child in me.
I’d give up much
For just one day
Reclaiming fun and sun
Summer camps, so much glee
That’s just the child in me.
Broken windows, Oh my…Yes
The ball that
Missed its target
That’s one day I was thankful…
Mom was at the market!
Memories of yesteryear
Some should have been forgotten
Others I’ll just have to keep
Cuz that’s most assuredly
THE ULTIMATE, “CHILD IN ME.”
