~ Christmas ~
Rooms bedecked with pine and evergreen,
twinkling lights and shimmering bows seen.
Stockings on the mantel, hung in a row,
I look out my window at new fallen snow.
The tree is topped with an angel so fair,
red velvet ribbons and soft golden hair.
She holds ribbons that cascade to the floor,
and a wreath of berries hangs on my door.
A sleigh in the hall holds gifts galore,
but I think there's room for one more.
Old Shep stands guard in case of foe,
he's jaunty as he wears a red bow.
Aroma of turkey, peppermint and eggnog,
waft in the air with the burning Yule log.
Friends and family stop by for a spell,
then off to see Uncle Tom and Aunt Nell.
The jingle of bells heard through the night,
I know it's Christmas so joyful and bright..
