~ Grateful Heart ~

I am grateful for family and friends
For rainbows, those magical gifts
I am grateful for time that she spends
Sweet daughter, my heart she uplifts

I am grateful that we have a home
We don't own the house and that's okay
Though seldom (from it) do I roam
Birds and sunshine find me each day

I am grateful for health and for life
For the happiness shooting stars bring
I am grateful for struggle and strife
I am grateful for everything

I am grateful for music and laughter
For the sound of kids splashing in rain
I am grateful for all that came after
After joy and, yes, after the pain

I am grateful for words that God gives me
I am grateful for all He bestows
That our world -- God willing -- outlives me
And that He will keep making rainbows
