~ I Hold Out My Hand ~

I saw the look within your eye
Tender, soft and sweet,
I saw the little tear
Trickling down your cheek.

I saw you try to smile
Tentative and shy,
I saw your lip quivering softly
Please don't pass me by.

I saw your head once high
Dropping in defeat,
You could not look me in the eye
Silent in your need.

I saw your heartfelt cry
And what then shall I do,
In your present sorrow
How may I reach my hand to you.

There is confusion in your face
From the battering of life,
As you wonder where to find
The strength for all the fight.

With the future all unknown
Are you cringing with dismay,
What fears loom higher than a mountain
As you shoulder every day .

Who shall comfort your hurt within
How can your heart be kept,
Lord You can reach, I know You hold my friend
For You answer every prayer we send.

O God, please hear not just our words but the
yearnings of our hearts. Hear beneath our
petitions the crying of our need.
