~ A Home For Us ~

All God ever needed
Was to keep us safe
Tucked beneath His heart,
Until we are given wings of our own
To fly upon His heights
In the wonders of heavenly joy
Perfectly at home.

All God ever wanted
Was to keep watch,
Until we could see beyond
To His place of glory
Never more to be alone
But safe in heaven
Where we will feel at home.

All God ever hoped
Was to teach us to fly
His perfect wings to own,
Of enduring faith
Against the winds of time
And flowing currents
Until we are at home.

All God ever sought
Was to hold us from falling
Thus finely honed,
Fragile no more
But eternal, to live forever
In our beautiful new home.

I think that one reason many of us do
not really take into the marrow of our
bones this message of the unconditional
love of God is this: We dwell excessively
on ourselves and on our mistakes. And so
we keep asking, 'Who am I that the Lord
should love me?' Instead we ought to be
asking, 'Who are you, O my God, that you
love me so much?' The Lord knows and
accepts that we humans are mistake-makers.
John Powell

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:29-31
