Hot Summer Daze ~
It's just too hot to be
serious
Forget the chores today
Gonna find a stream, cool off
a bit
Sing a happy tune and play
No need to expect a hot meal
Momma's gonna take the day off
She's gonna find a big shade
tree
And a chair that's nice and
soft
Papa's put the tools away
Wiped the sweat from his brow
It's just to hot to work today
But he will have fun somehow
Even ole Shep is lazy
Laying up under the porch
His poor little paws are
tender
And the walks as hot as a
torch
Little Miss Kitty's not a-purrin'
She found her a cool little
spot
Why do we wish for summer in
winter?
When we know it's way too hot
The crops in the field look
lazy
They look like they need a
drink
If they don't get one pretty
soon
I think they're sure to shrink
Lord have mercy on us I pray
Send some refreshing rain
Help us through this heat
wave
And I thank you once again
