I didn't know quite when you'd come
So each day I checked the door
Not knowing if you were on the way
I listened for your call
I didn't know when I might hear
Your footstep on the path
So, each day just as the sun arose
I prayed within my heart
I didn't know when I might see
Your smile upon the dawn
So I always stepped outside to wait
Upon each pretty morn
I didn't know if you might come
In winter, spring or fall
But God knew that you would come
So my heart was always warm
You are here, just as if
you were always here before
