~ I Found A Treasure ~
I found a wonderful treasure today
At a garage sale down the street
This beautiful quilt had caught my eye
The owner I just had to meet.
The quilt was identical to the one I owned
My mother made it a long time ago
I keep it draped across my bed
It's only there for show.
The owner was very sweet and kind
Her mother had made hers too
She told me the history of the quilt
I could tell she was feeling blue.
It seems when her mother was quite young
She had two daughters that she loved very much
She had made each one identical quilts
It was her gift she wanted to bestow.
But times got rough and her father died
As she continued on with her tale
The oldest daughter was taken from her
And I was informed this quilt was not for sale.
Her story so intrigued me
So many questions running through my mind
I rushed on over to my mother's house
To tell her of my find.
I repeated the story word for word
I could tell by the way Mom sighed
That she knew exactly what I was talking about
And as I continued she started to cry.
She asked me to take her to this house
This woman she had to meet
She was so quiet as I drove her there
It was as if her life was now complete.
My mother started weeping and sobbing
And mumbling about the past
She grabbed and hugged and kissed this woman
And said, "My search is over at last!"
You see the treasure I found that day
Was the treasure of sheer bliss
The Good Lord guided me to this sale
Where I found my beloved sis.
