~ I Know You Do Not Sleep ~

As the autumn leaves
Begin to softly fall,
Oh, my darling
My heart does call.
 
I remember how the light
Played on your golden hair,
I see you with my heart
Sitting... oh so warmly there.
 
Summer faded away and now
My autumn leaf has gone,
I am left alone with my memories
Every day is long.
 
You drifted far from our home
A golden leaf to fall,
But, could I wish you here again
To suffer all the more.
 
Though you were taken from me
That sad autumn day,
I picture you twirling now
In such a lovelier way.
 
I cannot stand broken at your grave
Beneath the empty trees and cry
For God took you home
I know you did not die.
 
My winter night has come
And freezes in my heart,
But, one day spring will return
And we shall never part.
 
 In my early morning walks
I watch the budding of a leaf
For I see you twinkling in the sky
As I stay and softly weep.
