~ I Saw A Butterfly ~

I saw a butterfly today
Sitting on my porch
All the colors on her wings
Did I see, she seemed to be waiting
Just for me.

There was a rainbow in the sky
My beautiful butterfly soared up in the clouds
She went over the rainbow so proud
If only I could have wings
Beautiful and new
To be free, in the things I would love to do.

I would go to countries I always wanted to see
I would live my life so happily
To touch a rainbow in the air
To smell sweet honey,
As I pass there
To sprinkle star dust as the fairies might have done
To be wise like the owl up in the tree
Yet of all those things
I do believe
A butterfly is really what I would like to be,
All the colors on her wings
Did I see, she seemed to be waiting
Just for me.
