< Letter From Mother - Driving

~ Another Letter from Mother ~
(driving)

Now that I'm old
And have nothing to do
I'm learning how to drive
And I'm coming to see you

I've made a little list of things
And studied it real good
I think I can really drive this car
As good as anybody could

Aw, shucks, I'm gonna do it
I know when I make a start
There's nothing really to it
After all, I'm pretty smart

First I'll get in the driver's seat
And make sure to shut the door
Put the key in the proper place
And both feet on the floor

I'll now adjust the bucket seat
Get buckled up real neat
I'll adjust the rear view mirror now
So I can view the entire street

Get a good grip on the steering wheel
With both hands hold  on tight
Turn the key 'til I hear a sound
All the way to the right

Then press my right foot on
The thing they call gas petal
And push it very quickly down
Half way to the metal

Oh My Gosh! What was that?
I heard a thunderous sound
Not for sure just where I am
In the car or on the ground

I hardly can remember
Before the my lights went out
Just what I was doing
Or what's this all about?

Oh my head is spinnin'
Let me get out of here
I remember now, what I did
I forgot to change the gear

But this ain't gonna stop me
'Cause I'm coming to visit you
And after a day of resting
I'll be as good as new

I'll get right back in that car
And soon be on my way
Since you don't live very far
I'll be there next Sunday
Love,
Mother
