~ Love's Gift ~

What do I have to give you
That will last till the end of days?
I will take a bit of the rainbow
Mixed with the sun’s golden rays.

I'll toss in a tear from the heavens,
I'll gather the blue of the sky;
I'll find a rose that's in bloom
And a smile from a mother’s eye.

And then I'll wrap it in paper
Woven with gingham and lace,
And leave it for you to find
When you long to see my face.

For my child I want you to know
That the one thing that never ends
Is the beauty that’s all around you,
Or the love of family and friends.
