~
Moon Pies And
A Pop Called
"RC"~
This is based
on a true
story my Daddy
told me long
ago:
A story that
stands out
that my Daddy
once told
Has come to
mean so much
to me.
It's a story
about life,
and how we
should all
live;
About Moon
Pies and a
'pop' called
RC.
My Daddy was
poor, didn't
have much at
all,
As he grew up
in the south
as a lad.
But Gramma and
Grampa taught
him so well
To share
everything
that he had!
It was a hot
summer day, as
he worked in
the grove,
When he sat
down under an
old orange
tree.
He opened his
bag, and there
he found
A Moon Pie and
a 'pop' called
RC!
Though hungry
and thirsty,
parched to the
bone,
When an old
man happened
to stop by,
He halved all
he had with
the old man
that day,
A 'pop' and a
chocolate pie.
The old man
sat down to
chat for a
while,
Resting there,
in the heat of
the day.
My Daddy never
forgot, and
still tells of
their talk,
Of what that
hungry old man
had to say!
Seems he once
was a preacher
who fell on
hard times
Who was
traveling,
living on what
he could find.
He told of the
days when he
preached the
Word,
And led to the
Light those
who were
'blind'.
He spoke of
the 'hunger'
that he once
fed
Of the
'thirst' he
once offered
to quench.
He told my
Daddy of
miracles he
saw
As they sat on
that rickety
bench.
Then, as he
arose to
travel along,
He asked God
to bless my
dear old Dad,
Who didn't
have much to
eat for
himself
But shared
with him all
that he had.
My Daddy got
up to go back
to work,
And felt
something
within his
callused hand.
He found an
old cross on a
chain of fine
gold,
Left by the
gentle old
man.
When he looked
up to thank
him, the old
man was gone..
As if he
disappeared up
into the sky!
My Daddy was
blessed just
because he had
shared
His bottle of
'pop' and a
chocolate pie!
Matthew
25:35-36 & 40
35} For I was
an hungered,
and ye gave me
meat: I was
thirsty, and
ye gave me
drink: I was a
stranger and
ye took me in:
36} Naked, and
ye clothed me:
I was sick and
ye visited me:
I was in
prison and ye
came unto me.
{And the
righteous
answered Him
asking ,
'When?'}
40} And the
King shall
answer them
and say unto
them, Verily I
say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye
have done it
unto the least
of these my
Brethren, ye
have done it
unto me!
