A Mother gently prays
as she waits for you to grow,
Watching, while you learn to choose
all your heart will know.
She won't expect you to respond.
though pouring forth her mother love,
She will not compel you to be there
even after showing how to care.
Each heart in life, is for you to find.
from watching her so gentle, kind.
She cannot prevent you feeing all alone,
though nurtured as her very own.
She won't always be there to take you out,
but friends she can advise about.
After reminding you of right from wrong,
she cannot lead you into freedoms song.
Honor from within yourself must flow
From the example of respect she showed.
And while she may give wonderful advice
It is your choice whether to be nice.
Your reputation is for you to wear,
Based on a life of wisdom shared.
For in time, you form your own restrictions
From being warned about addictions.
