~ My Christmas
Secret ~
I've never wanted lots of
gifts,
Nor fashion-clothes to wear.
Instead, I'd make so many things
Of wood and ironware;
Of leather-craft, and statuettes
Made up from old horseshoes;
Some furniture and household things
Which everyone could use.
I also made new ornaments
Each year when I was young,
And gazed in wonder at the tree
When all of them were hung.
I loved those "Homemade Christmases";
And pray each day I rise,
That I will see the world as with
A child's unwearied eyes.
