~ Of Gentle Heart ~

I awoke today
as I so often do-
wake to face the day
it's undying flame

Face sounds such a struggling word
But really do I just embrace the moment
with my heart
another day of light
appearing
to be safe from fear
for now
this hour anyway

It is peaceful, quiet
I am blessed here in the silence
Punctured only
by the steady unrelenting rhythm
of the birds twittering
glad to be alive
rejoicing in the dawning of the earth

I rise, realizing
this day could unveil
a myriad of episodes,
new or repeated
or it could be a multitude
of little things shared
with a lovely friend
Someone with a love that never ends
hemmed about this day,
in a way secure
This is home, we are here
enclosed in a love
we can gladly live
we can freely give
