There's something so very pretty
About the warmth of summer days
Just sitting in the sunshine
Soaking up the rays
In the early morning coolness
Watching butterflies at play
Balmy breezes whispering
Secrets on their way
As soft sentimental shadows fall
Exploding starry light
Diamond studded darkness
A mantle of the night
Until the dawn unveils again
Flowers in the dew
Immersed within their fragrance
I smile, feelings of gratitude
For each petal there unfurling
Speaks of a wonder true
Unfolding special sweetness
The loveliness of you
I send my love on butterfly wings
To alight upon you my friend

*Earth laughs in flowers*
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Where'er you walk
cool gales shall fan the glade,
Trees where you sit
shall crowd into a shade.
Where'er you tread
the blushing flowers shall
rise,
And all things flourish
where you turn your eyes.
Alexander Pope Pastorals--Summer
All labors draw home at even,
And can to others say,
"Thanks to the gracious God of heaven,
Who sent this summer day."
Alexander Hume
