Something Unusual ~
I saw something very unusual
today
A butterfly walking across
the ground
With each step its wings
opened and closed
Why isn't it flying around?
It walked and walked across
the ground
And made its way slowly
towards me
But then I saw another one
There's two, oh no, there's
three!
I know they land upon the
ground
And in nearby trees on
leaves
But to have three walk right
up to me
It's really hard to fathom
or believe!
They walked all around where
I was sitting
Until a bird landed and
scared them away
Another unusual thing took
place
This bird decided to stay.
It sat right there and
stared at me
Then tilted its head back to
sing
A beautiful sound came
lilting out
Then it looked a me and
spread its wings.
For the longest time it sat
and basked
In the warmth of the
afternoon sun
The butterflies were perched
on a nearby leaf
They didn't seem afraid of
anyone.
We all enjoyed this
afternoon
When the butterflies decided
to take a walk
And when the bird joined
right in
No one got upset or even
squawked.
