Tears Will Wash
My Eyes ~
It was an
ordinary day,
she had no
reason to cry
As you walked
out the door,
You softly wiped
tears from her
eyes
When you left,
she felt empty
somehow, she did
not know why
You called her
in horror, with
tears in your
eyes
You told her
planes had
struck the twin
towers
People were
dying and you
did not know
if you would
come home
She started to
scream, her
worse nightmare
now real
as she heard how
these terrorists
from Iraq
Died for
religion alone.
Tears now were
washing her eyes
Will there ever
be peace again
Will there only
be smoke filled
skies
Or will the air
clear
So all can see
the horizon
And find freedom
from this fear
She was so calm
when she heard
the news
Her husband
high-jacked
His last words
"Let's roll em"
She heard how
all the
passengers
Said The Lord's
Prayer, as
friend to friend
They stood in a
circle
Going to their
death
To reach heaven
Led by one great
hockey player to
the end.
And his precious
wife, tears
washing her eyes
Remembered only
a few hours
before
How her husband
touched her with
his hands
The sadness had
begun,
Yet, he died a
brave man,
On September
eleven, two
thousand and
one.
Let us all
remember
Those brave men
of our land,
The women and
children
Who died for
freedom and the
American flag

Do you remember
me
The people's
poet
Only when you
lose someone for
a great cause,
do we realize
how important
freedom and the
American flag
truly is.
