Time Changes Things
#5

I'm tired of these ole ugly shoes
They look like winter boots
I'd like to have some pretty ones
Those little heels are really  cute

I bet with all this new stuff now
They come up with all the time
They've  surely found a way
To fit these poor old feet of mine

I'm old but still a lady
And I like to look real nice
But wearing these ugly shoes
No one will ever look at me twice

AW look at that old gal , they say
She's wearing combat shoes
Getting ready for a war?
I wonder what she's heard on the news?

Maybe you don't mind funny remarks
But that  sure made me think
I'm going to the shoe store right away
And try on everything

O lookie here, inside the door
I yelled out to the clerk
They're just my size, I like them a lot
But gettin' them on was real hard work

The clerk was nice and helped me
He pushed 'til they were finally on
Then he said stand up my dear
Lets just walk along

Gotta see just how they feel
After walking in them for a while
Then when he let go of me
I fell flat right in the isle

Call 9-1-1, and tell them hurry
I think we've got a broken bone
I'll keep her laying here real quiet
Now get them on the phone

Another attempt to shed this age
Has turned into disaster
I've worried folks before I know
But not for a pair of shoes that I was after
