~ That's What Friends Are For ~
In the middle of the night
you call to shed some tears.
We talk for hours on end
as I help dispel your fears.
We laugh and tell some jokes,
remembering days gone by,
we talk about our friendship
and then you ask me why.
“Why did you take my call
when I know you were asleep?”
I tell you it’s because
“I have promises to keep.”
I promised I'd be there
if you knocked upon my door,
or if you called me on the phone
‘cause that’s what friends are for.
I value all your love
we've walked so many miles
you've stood by me in sorrow,
you've taught me how to smile.
So if you ever need me
to comfort and console,
please know I'll always answer,
‘CAUSE THAT’S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR.
