What I Learned Today ~
Out walking today I chanced to meet
This crippled man crossing the street
I offered a hand to help him along
He just smiled at me, whistling a song
Then on my walk not much farther away
There was a lady so feeble and gray
I then once again, offered a hand
But she just walked on, with a smile so grand
I turned into the park as I walked along
There is my sight was a begger alone
Looking so hungry with nothing to eat
Here, my offer, I did repeat
This time I was allowed to help a bit
He said. "Just set here with me a while
Most pass me by, don't even speak
I guess my clothing must be the wrong style"
Not one of these strangers really ever complained?
As I think back, it makes me ashamed
Because I fuss too much when things aren't just right
But I changed my prayers a bit this night
Lord give me the sweet spirit I witnessed today
As you ordered my steps to walk this way
You taught me so much Lord, on my walk today
I do thank you Jesus for leading me that way!
