~ Yesterday's Gone ~
Now that I'm old and wrinkled and gray
The world has come to look a different way
I see things of importance, that weren't there before
And many things I have, I don't need any more
People mean a lot more to me
Their happy faces are like pure gold
A kind word and a tender heart
Is like a bright ray of sun, now that I'm old
Yesterday when I was young
I felt like I had an eternity to do as I please
But now that's all over, not here any more
Just many lonely hours with no release
I'm now in a web that I wove for myself
Can't blame anyone for the shape I'm in
I was all the time looking for things that will last
When I discovered it's gone, just a part of my past
The past, yes the past, that's all it can be
Can't find it again for I'm too old you see
It happens so fast you're there in a wink
You better get ready, it takes over before you can think!
