G. I.
Wonder how many people know
Just what the term "G. I." means
Just like so many other words
It’s not as clear-cut as it
seems.
Most think it was "Government
Issue"
And been so since World War Two
But what it meant before that
Might be a surprise to you.
It stood for "Galvanized Iron"
A metal trash can called "G. I."
And "G. I. Cans" during WW One
Was what German Artillery let
fly.
Just some Military trivia
That is pretty amusing
That the Government issues
Soldiers
And all things that they are
using.
