~ Autumn Kaleidoscope ~
Fluffy clouds,
marshmallow-white
Pasted on an autumn sky
Blue, so blue -- the sun
so bright
Into that blue, I long to
fly
Kaleidoscopic trees all
'round
Leaves of gold and green
and red
Underfoot, there on the
ground
Crunchy feel of brown
leaves, dead
Orange pumpkins in the
field
Crookneck squash -- so
smooth, so yellow
Concord grapes, the vine
did yield
Fragrance, taste -- so
sweet, so mellow
Scarecrows 'tween the rows
of corn
Brandishing their arms of
straw
Patches on their
shirtsleeves, torn
Overhead the crows do caw
Harvest time means harvest
moons
Big and bold . . .
red-yellow pies
Not the kind that Mother
spoons
Into a pie shell, sweet
surprise
Sweet potato, pumpkin too
So rich, so good, so tasty
Summer . . . she has not a
clue
Of autumn's dance, now
hasty
Baskets full of apples,
red
Sit just inside the
kitchen door
Another crop for pies and
bread
Mmmm, apple butter -- I
want more
The heat holds on, as
summer clings
Though autumn nights are
crisp and cool
The mockingbird, now,
seldom sings
When yellow school bus
heads for school
It's all a dance, the
sweet romance
The changing of the
seasons
I don't believe it's all
by chance
I know God has His reasons

Faerie's Heart Songs

As summer draws to a close
and
autumn winds begin to
blow, find
joy in the
small-but-wondrous
miracles that are all
around you.
