Yes, Christmas comes but once a year.
And that's a fact that makes me cheer.
I love to hear the church bells ring,
And the Christmas carols we all sing.
Never enough hours in the busy day.
Company is coming; planning to stay.
Presents to wrap, the house to clean.
Cooking and baking squeezed in between.
In spite of that it's a time when we care.
Hearts fill with a love we do want to share.
A single mother with no money to spend.
For her a helping hand we want to lend.
The elderly neighbors all alone this year,
For none of their small family lives near.
The wife whose husband went off to war;
She will share Christmas with him no more.
It is the spirit of Christmas we cherish
For without God's love we would perish.
He sent His only son, for our sins to die.
In return, He only asks that we try.
To spread good cheer and lots of love
To please our Father in Heaven above.
That is the spirit of Christmas you see,
That is what Christmas means to me.
