~ The Cross ~
I am glad I wasn't present
That day on Calvary
I would have cried my eyes out
How terrible to see!
My Lord all cut, and bruised
Hanging on a tree
I'm glad I wasn't Mary
I'm glad it wasn't me
Could you bear to witness
Your own son upon a cross
With nails in hands, and feet
Bearing all sin's cost?
I know He must have suffered
How Mary's heart did break
I could not imagine
The pain of that heartache
But there's good news for you and I
It wasn't all in vain
He came forward from that tomb
Yes He did rise again
He has paid the penalty
Of sin for you, and I
Remember this when you see
The rainbow in the sky
