I have this little
dream you know
To travel America from shore to shore.
Across the plains, over the mountains,
Big cities and small towns to explore.
Through forests of towering trees,
Crossing rivers both narrow and wide,
In awe of the fall colors so grand,
Seeing the reasons for America's pride.
Stopping for meals in roadside cafes,
Stretching our legs in roadside parks.
Talking with folks wherever we stop,
Seeing where pioneers left their marks.
Maybe follow the trail of Lewis and Clark,
From Missouri to the vast Pacific,
Without all the hardships they endured,
Traveling by car, a journey terrific.
To make this trip with friends so dear
Is the dream that lives in my heart,
A dream that may never come true.
But, one from which I'll never depart.
